German Papier-Mâché Angels with Candles
In Germany’s Erzgerbirge mountain region there is a legend of the angel and the miner. In days past, it was traditional for men to carve an angel when a daughter was born into the family and a miner when a boy was born. These figures held candles lighting the home’s windows during the dark, cold days of winter. We are offering the Lichterengel (Light Angel) for the holidays. Our friends at Marolin handcraft these of papier-mâché using vintage molds (circa 1935). Each is unique. Limited quantities.
