A late September Saturday found us in charming Monroe, Wisconsin celebrating the 100th anniversary of Green County Cheese Days. Yes, you guessed it, this is a festival centered around all things cheesy. Afterall, Wisconsin is America’s Dairyland. Plus, since this region of the state is home to a large population of folks of Swiss heritage, Switzerland also gets a nod during the festivities.
However, the best part of the weekend was having the chance of catching up with our beloved friends, Hanspeter and Sonja, from Brienz, Switzerland. Hanspeter was invited to Cheese Days for a woodcarving demonstration at the Swiss Turner Hall. It was wonderful watching our talented friend carve several Swiss Santas for the crowd.
